The Hyundai Tucson and Hyundai Kona have become popular Hyundai SUVs models at Navarre Hyundai of Lake Charles. Given their affordable price tags, versatile cabins, and nicely appointed cabins, their success doesn’t come as a surprise.

One of these SUVs could work well if you’re in need of a new two-row SUV near Orange, TX. Which one might be better? Since they both come with great benefits, it can be a hard decision. This overview will highlight some important differences to narrow down your choices.

Please note that many versions of the Kona and Tucson are available on our lot near Moss Bluff, LA. The Tucson comes as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid, and Hyundai also makes a Kona EV and a high-performance Kona N model. To keep things straightforward, we’ll be focusing our attention on the regular Tucson and Kona.

Fortunately, the Tucson and Kona are competitively priced, so either one might fit your budget. The Kona is the more affordable option. However, the lower trims of the Tucson might work out for you, too. What’s important to remember is that you get a lot for your money with these Hyundais. They have excellent value and could turn out to be a wise purchase near Jennings, LA.

Size is another major factor when considering what SUVs might suit them best around Sulphur, LA. Both of these models have rear seatbacks that can fold down whenever you need more space. The Kona’s maximum cargo capacity is 63.7 cubic feet, while the Tucson has a maximum cargo capacity of 80.3 cubic feet.

Regarding passenger space, the Kona offers 38.2 inches of rear-seat legroom. The Tucson has a slight advantage with 41.3 inches of second-row legroom.

These two vehicles are quite comparable in terms of performance. The Tucson runs on a 2.5-liter engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. In contrast, the Kona can be powered by a 2.0-liter engine or a turbocharged 1.6-liter version.

Its standard engine gives it 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque, and the turbocharged model increases horsepower to 190 and torque to 195 pound-feet. You have the opportunity to get all-wheel drive with either SUV. It’s nice to have this option if you plan on driving through rough conditions.

The Kona does a little better than the Tucson with fuel economy, at least when it runs on the 2.0-liter engine. With that standard engine, this model can earn as much as 35 miles per gallon on the highway and 28 miles per gallon in the city.

The turbocharged version almost hits those marks, having an estimated fuel economy of 32/26 (highway/city) miles per gallon. That’s almost identical to the fuel economy of the Tucson, which is 32/25 (highway/city) miles per gallon.

One of the reasons Hyundai models attract so much attention is because they come with advanced technology. Hyundai recently redesigned the Kona, and it can now offer a pair of 12.3-inch displays. The Tucson can also have two large displays, but its available screens measure 10.25 inches. You get Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM with both vehicles. Navigation is included with many trims, too.

We’d also like to highlight the other interior amenities the Hyundai Tucson and Kona offer. The higher trims of these SUVs can have heated and ventilated front seats so that you can stay more comfortable on drives around Lake Charles, LA.

The Tucson also has heated rear seats and a steering wheel. With the Kona, your upholstery options include cloth, a synthetic Alcantara material, and leatherette. In comparison, the Tucson can showcase cloth, leatherette, or leather seats.
